- New: Connect Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code to ChronoTab from your Profile. Your assistant can start and stop timers, log time against an issue and answer questions about your time. Entries it logs are marked "AI assistant".
- Changed: Profile has a new layout, and changes save as you make them. Your own API keys are there too.
- Changed: Admins find everyone's API keys on Members, with a badge for keys used from more than one place or unused for 90 days.
- Changed: Sign in with GitHub or Google. You can no longer paste an API key into the sign-in screen or the Chrome extension.
Changelog
What's new in ChronoTab
November 2026
- Changed: ChronoTab now lives at app.chronotab.com. Old links and bookmarks forward there automatically.
- Changed: You'll be asked to sign in once after this update.
- Changed: Client timesheet links now use share.chronotab.com. Links you've already sent keep working.
- New: A fresh ChronoTab look across the app, the client timesheet page, PDFs and emails: green accents, white pages and the Manrope font. The Chrome extension update is rolling out through the Chrome Web Store.
- New: Paid plans are live. Admins can upgrade from Settings → Billing; checkout shows your local currency where Paddle supports it.
- New: Reports opens with Team time, Billable and Non-billable totals, then bars by person and by activity.
- Changed: On My week, click a day to log time on it. On a phone all seven days fit on screen.
- Changed: Entries on a submitted or approved timesheet open read-only, with a link to the timesheet.
- Changed: Hours on timesheets, the client page and PDFs show decimal hours with hours and minutes underneath. Every PDF page has a footer with the reference and page number.
- Changed: Timesheets has a "Generate timesheet" button, a Rounding row in the summary, and the client's reason on a rejected timesheet.
- Changed: Settings has links to jump to each section. The extension popup has an "Open My week" button.
- New: Punchcard is now ChronoTab. Same product, same data, same team, with a new name and logo.
- Changed: Emails, the client timesheet page and PDFs now carry the ChronoTab name. Support is at [email protected].
- Changed: The first time you sign in with GitHub after this update, GitHub may ask you to authorize the ChronoTab app.
- Changed: The Chrome extension update with the new name and icon is rolling out through the Chrome Web Store.
- Changed: API keys can now only be created while you're signed in to the dashboard.
- Changed: Adding a member by hand now checks that their GitHub username belongs to your organisation.
- Improved: Sign-in is more secure. It now only completes in the browser tab that started it.
- Improved: Typing part of an issue number in Log time now lists matching issues (e.g. 223 finds #2234).
- Fixed: If an entry changes while its timesheet is being submitted, the submit now stops instead of locking the old version.
- Fixed: Logging time against a repo outside your organisation's GitHub connection no longer adds that repo to your organisation.
October 2026
- New: Submitting a timesheet now sends it to the client in one step. Choose who gets the review link (the client's contacts plus any other addresses, up to 10) and Punchcard emails it for you. Turn off "Email a review link" to submit without sending.
- New: After a timesheet is submitted or approved, "Send to client" emails a fresh review link, and "Emails sent" shows how many people each send reached and whether each email arrived.
- Changed: "Submitted to" is no longer typed in. It is the timesheet's client, shown at the top of the timesheet.
- Changed: A link made for a draft timesheet is now an internal review link, and the page it opens shows a "Draft — internal review" banner. Drafts can't be emailed to the client.
- Changed: Your organisation can now send up to 20 timesheet emails every 10 minutes and 100 a day (each recipient counts as one email).
- New: In a missing-time reminder, each missing date now links to My week for that date's own week.
- Improved: When a draft timesheet leaves entries off because they are already on another timesheet, the notice now stays when you leave the page and come back.
- Fixed: The confirmation after logging time in the extension now appears at the bottom of the page instead of covering your new entry.
- New: Release notes are now on the website. Find "Changelog" in the site footer.
- Fixed: the "Open My week" button in a reminder now opens the week with your most recent missing day, not an earlier week.
- New: connect Slack with the "Add to Slack" button in Settings → Slack, or from the button in the docs. Admins go straight to Slack to approve; others see who can connect it.
- New: reminders. In Settings → Reminders, admins can turn on reminders for their team. Members who have working days with nothing logged get a note listing those days, weekly or daily at the time you choose, in each member's own timezone. Managers and admins also get a weekly list of timesheets waiting on them: drafts whose period ended 3 or more days ago, and timesheets a client sent back.
- New: Slack. Connect Slack in Settings to send reminders as Slack direct messages as well as email. Members are matched to their Slack account by email address. Punchcard only sends DMs; it never posts in channels or reads messages.
- New: in your profile, choose how often you get reminders (your team's default, daily, weekly or off) and whether they come by email, Slack or both. Admins can require reminders, so members can't turn them off.
- New: admins can preview each reminder email and send themselves a test before turning reminders on.
- Reminders are off for every team until an admin turns them on. Nothing is sent while your team's GitHub connection is paused or disconnected.
- Improved: the app loads less code when it starts, so it opens a little faster.
- Improved: the help pages now show screenshots of the app, so each step is easier to follow.
- New: download a timesheet as a PDF from its Export menu, or open a printable version. Clients can download the PDF from the link you share with them.
- New: your default timezone, activity type and billable setting are now set per organization on your Profile page, and the browser extension uses them.
- New: admins can turn automatic adding of new GitHub members on or off in Settings, under Members.
- Improved: you stay signed in after closing the tab or restarting your browser, for up to 24 hours. Signing out signs you out of your other open tabs too.
- Improved: pages load faster, and the dashboard loads less code when it first opens.
- Fixed: if you switch teams in one tab, other open tabs follow and can no longer save time to the old team. If the team you're using is no longer available to you, Punchcard asks you to choose another team instead of signing you out.
- Changed: the report's missing-time warning is now one short line of counts. To see who and which days, open the Team page.
- Changed: when you email a timesheet link, the To field starts with the client's billing email.
- Fixed: submitting a timesheet draft whose entries are now on another timesheet asks you to regenerate the draft, instead of failing with an error.
- New: you can email a timesheet's share link to your client from the new-link card with Send by email. Each organization can send up to 20 a day.
- New: admins get a Weekly digest emails switch in Settings, and the digest now lists only people and repositories still waiting to be added.
- New: the person who creates an organization gets one welcome email from Punchcard.
- Improved: billing and data-deletion records are written more reliably, and the platform storage view shows every table it counts.
- New: the audit log keeps a year of history instead of 180 days, plus an encrypted archive copy. New entries record people and items by reference rather than copying names or notes, so anyone who has been anonymised shows as anonymised.
- Changed: on new entries, audit log search matches the person, the target and the action.
- Changed: when automatic adding leaves people or repositories out at the plan limit, the audit log now shows how many. The weekly email still lists who.
- Improved: nightly database backups stream straight to storage, so they keep working as data grows.
- Updated: the privacy policy now describes the one-year audit history and the encrypted archive.
- New: org admins can manage their organization's activity types in Settings, under Activity types. Add a type, change its label, its /spend key or its colour, drag to reorder, and choose the default. Archive a type you no longer use: its entries keep it and it still shows in reports. A type no entry has ever used can be deleted.
- Changed: activity types now show as labels instead of short keys, for example Development instead of dev and Meetings instead of meeting, in Log time, My week, Reports and newly generated timesheets.
- Changed: in CSV exports from Reports and timesheets, the activity_type column is now called activity and holds the type's label (for example Development) instead of its key. Timesheets submitted before this change keep their original column. If a spreadsheet or tool reads that column, update it.
- Changed: /spend tags match your organization's own keys, and capital letters don't matter. A tag that doesn't match an active type is logged as your organization's default type, with a note at the start of the description naming the tag you typed.
- New: the Chrome extension's popup has an organization switcher when you belong to more than one organization. Its Log time form, date picker and activity list now match the web app, and it shows your organization's own activity types. Install the extension's new version to get these; older versions keep working with the original eight types.
- New: in Manage repositories, a repository that another repository with the same name has replaced shows a Tombstone badge and a short explanation. Its hours stay in reports.
- Changed: when you share a timesheet, the link box shows Copy link and Copy email text, which copies a ready-to-send sentence with the link and its expiry date. The preview button on each link is labelled Preview. Your client's page says when the link expires, and a revoked or unknown link shows the same friendly page.
- Fixed: API keys held by members can no longer read the organization-wide hours and repository reports. The dashboard is not affected, and admin and manager keys work as before.
- Fixed: the hourly sync with GitHub no longer switches a member back on after an admin disabled them.
- Fixed: if Google can't find your account the first time you sign in, the sign-in page says so and, if your account was created from GitHub, tells you to sign in with GitHub once first.
- Fixed: timesheets with about 100 or more entries can now be generated and submitted, and generating one no longer marks a renamed repository's issues as deleted.
- Fixed: reconnecting GitHub, re-adding a repository, or a repository being renamed or having its name taken no longer separates or hides its earlier hours in reports.
- Fixed: on Reports, choosing a user in the user filter now narrows the Hours by day table and its CSV export to that user.
- Fixed: a repository that Punchcard support adds or reactivates for your team appears in Log time within seconds, instead of up to an hour later.
- Fixed: layout on phones and tablet widths across My week, Settings, Timesheets, Manage repositories, Reports and Team, and date errors on Log time, Reports and Generate timesheet no longer move the fields around them.
- Fixed: if the app was updated while your tab was open, a page that fails to load reloads once to the new version instead of showing an error.
- Fixed: an issue with the Chrome extension's This week summary.
- New: on the Members page, filter the list by role (All, Admin, Manager or Member) with the selector above the cards. Each option shows how many people have that role.
- New: sort the Members page by Name A–Z, Name Z–A, Role, Status or Last active. Your role filter and sort order stay in the page address, so you can bookmark or share a filtered view.
- Fixed: members are now sorted by name without regard to capital letters, so "alice" and "Bob" are in alphabetical order instead of all capitalised names coming first.
- Fixed: holding down G to see the keyboard shortcut hints no longer makes the hints flicker on and off. They stay up until you press the second key or the chord times out.
- New: Manage repositories is now its own page (Settings → GitHub → Manage repositories) instead of a side panel, so an organization with hundreds of repositories can scan and change them comfortably. Use "‹ Settings" to go back.
- New: search repositories by repository name or by client name, and filter by Active or Inactive. The result count updates as you type, `/` jumps to the search box, and your search stays in the page address so you can bookmark or share it.
- New: a repository's client is now picked from your Clients list, when you add a repository and when you edit it, instead of typed in as free text. The clients you choose here are the same ones used for timesheets and reports.
- New: select many repositories at once to assign them to a client, remove them from their client, or activate or deactivate them. Each action is applied in one step, so a change either applies to every repository that can change or to none. Repositories of an archived client are skipped and stay selected.
- Changed: a repository's report heading and CSV header now show its client from the Clients page, and the Reports "client" filter matches that client's name. A repository without a client shows its repository name.
- Changed: dates are now written with spaces, like "17 Oct 2026", instead of "17-Oct-2026". This applies across the web app, the audit log, the Chrome extension and the timesheet documents you share with clients.
- Improved: date fields open a calendar when you click into them or tab into them. Today is highlighted, the arrow keys move between days and Enter picks the highlighted day. You can still type a date.
- Improved: the client list on Generate timesheet always has a search box, and the Settings page is narrower, so its cards no longer stretch across empty space.
- Fixed: the repository lists no longer fail to load for an organization that tracks more than about a hundred repositories.
- New: Punchcard has a new look across the web app — cards on a light grey background, rounded pill buttons and filters, and a new display font. The sidebar groups pages into Track, Analyse and Administer, and your organization and team are one control at the top for switching teams. On phones and narrow windows there is a top bar with a menu, and Log time opens from the bottom of the screen.
- New: Log time is a sheet that floats over the page, with quick 15m/30m/1h/2h buttons, a readout of how your duration was read, and dates you can type as "today", "yesterday" or "8 Oct". ⌘↵ (Ctrl+↵ on Windows) saves, and "Save & add another" keeps you going.
- New: keyboard shortcuts — press G then a letter to jump to a page (W My week, R Reports, T Timesheets, and so on) and ? to see them all.
- New: Reports has 7d, 14d, 30d and Custom ranges and reopenable filter chips. Click any cell in "Hours by day" to see that person's entries for the day. Export is one menu wherever you can download data.
- New: the audit log can be filtered by search text, person, action and date, and shows times in your own timezone. A timesheet's history shows who created and revoked each share link. Members are shown as cards, with each person's API keys and recent activity in a side panel.
- New: the sign-in screen leads with GitHub and remembers the method you used last. Admins see a banner when the organization's GitHub connection needs attention, and a GitHub owner can take over as admin if the only admin has left your GitHub organization. An organization's last active admin can no longer be demoted.
- New: organization admins can delete their organization from Settings → "Delete this organization". It needs a recent GitHub sign-in and the organization's slug typed to confirm. The organization locks immediately, any admin can cancel within 30 days, and members can export their own entries from the lock screen. After 30 days the data is deleted automatically.
- Improved: Punchcard recognises people by their GitHub account, not only their username, so renaming your GitHub account keeps your membership, API keys and entries, and a later holder of your old username can't act as you.
- Improved: GitHub sync is faster and more reliable. Repositories you add or reactivate show up in Log time within seconds, large organizations sync in smaller retried batches, and syncing follows how much an organization is used. Admins can switch to adding new repositories manually in Settings.
- Improved: the dashboard and Chrome extension load faster, and on phones every page fits the screen, with forms staying above the keyboard and larger tap targets.
- Improved: the shared timesheet page your customer opens is cleaner — total hours and issue count, Approve first, and the work listed under "Time entries".
- Improved: in the Chrome extension, the log time and edit views match the web app and follow GitHub's light or dark theme, and the toolbar popup opens faster.
- Changed: a timesheet no longer has a "View document" button (use the view icon next to a live share link). The Invoice section and the Reports "Check for deleted issues" button are removed; My week still has "Check for deleted issues".
- Fixed: logging time for "today" is no longer refused when you are ahead of your organization's timezone, and the Chrome extension starts a new entry on today's date where you are. Dates that don't exist, such as 30 February, are rejected.
- Fixed: admin pages open only for roles that may use them, and role changes and team switches take effect in your open tab without showing the previous team's data. In Log time, members see only repositories they have access to.
- Fixed: security hardening across exports, documents, sign-in and webhook handling; shared timesheet links stop working while an organization is suspended or locked.
- Fixed: a /spend comment or GitHub-comment entry that fails while the system is briefly busy is retried instead of lost, and a double click or repeated ⌘↵ in the extension no longer logs the same time twice.
September 2026
- New: client management — admins can maintain a client list, tag repos to a client, and generate/submit/approve/reject/view/download one combined timesheet per client (with a "Repositories included" breakdown and client-filterable reports); repo reassignment and tagging are now audit-logged and draft-safe.
- New: the timesheet History panel now shows when a timesheet was created and each time it was refreshed, with who did it and when.
- Fixed: GitHub issue sync — new or renamed issues appear in search within moments instead of up to 15 minutes, titles no longer get stuck after rapid renames, and a deleted issue can't briefly reappear.
- New: deleted-issue awareness — automatic warning icons across My week, Reports, timesheets and the extension, a manual "Check for deleted issues" button, and more reliable detection, including at timesheet/report generation time.
- Fixed: a repo removed, narrowed, or fully uninstalled from the GitHub App no longer lingers as trackable in Settings or timesheets; a renamed repo's logged time now stays unified under its current name everywhere, including client timesheets.
- New: `/spend` comment reconciliation — editing or deleting a `/spend` comment now updates or removes its logged time (manual corrections you've made are protected from being overwritten), and a misspelled activity falls back to the default instead of being dropped.
- New: durations now display as "2h 30m" instead of decimals across the dashboard, extension, reports and team views — billing exports and timesheets still use exact decimals.
- Fixed: timesheet rounding — ad-hoc reports show exact totals (rounding only applies once a timesheet is generated), regenerating a draft uses the org's current rounding setting, custom overrides are clearly noted, drafts can be discarded, and the exported document no longer shows a duplicate accent bar or on-screen "DRAFT" watermark.
- Fixed: polish to the Log time / Edit entry panels and My week — clearer titles, bordered fields with clear (×) buttons, "not found" messages, date-labeled day cards, inline delete confirmation, and a clearer message when GitHub is briefly unavailable.
- Fixed: extension polish — aligned drawer header, issue-number-first byline, no browser autofill suggestions, no accidental "discard" prompt on Enter, and hours/minutes duration display matching the rest of the app.
- Web: org admins can now expand any member on the Members page to see their API keys, usage, and recent activity — and revoke or reissue a key right there, without switching pages
- Web: a key used from more than one IP address is now flagged with a "Multiple IPs" badge
- Fixed a bug where an org admin could accidentally lock everyone out by disabling their own account or the org's last remaining admin
- New: a Privacy Policy page is now live at /privacy.html, covering how Punchcard handles your data across the web app, extension, and API
- Fixed: the Mac keyboard-shortcut hint next to "Log time" was hard to read against the blue button; it now also shows the ⌥ symbol instead of "Option"
- Web: Quick time-logging overlay (⌘K or header button) — accepts "2h 30m", "2.5", "2:30", or "150m"
- Web: My week view with logged/gap/today status at a glance
- Web: Reports — hours grid, drill-down, CSV export, filters by repo/user/activity/billable/client
- Web: Team completeness view for admins and managers
- Web: Timesheets — generate, submit, approve/reject, void, and share via a link
- Web: Org settings — manage tracked repos, export rounding, org profile, API keys
- Web: Org audit log of admin/manager actions, including automated actions like membership syncs and repo-access grants
- Web: the dashboard now lives at a new address — https://app.punchcard.nfnlabs.in (the previous URL keeps working during the transition)
- New: a public marketing page introducing Punchcard is now live at https://punchcard.nfnlabs.in
- Extension: log time directly from a GitHub issue page, with a 24-hour progress dial on the floating button showing today's logged time vs. your expected hours
- Extension: connect multiple organizations in one browser profile; works offline with automatic sync
- Roles: Member (own time), Manager (org reports + full timesheet lifecycle), Org Admin (all of that plus managing members, settings, and the audit log)
