These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of ChronoTab, a GitHub-native time-tracking service operated by NFN Labs (OPC) Pvt. Ltd. ("NFN Labs," "we," "us," or "our"). The Service includes the ChronoTab web app, the ChronoTab Chrome extension, the ChronoTab API, and the ChronoTab GitHub App (together, the "Service").
By creating an organization, signing in, installing the GitHub App or the extension, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who can use ChronoTab
- ChronoTab is a business tool. You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract.
- If you create an organization or accept these Terms for a company or other entity, you confirm that you are authorized to bind it. "You" then means both you and that entity, which we call the "Customer."
- Members join an organization at the invitation or configuration of that organization's administrators. The Customer is responsible for who it admits, the roles it assigns, and the GitHub repositories it connects.
- Authority over GitHub accounts. If you connect a GitHub organization or install the ChronoTab GitHub App, you confirm that you are an owner of that organization (or that its owners have authorized you) to install the App, to connect it to ChronoTab, and to give ChronoTab the access the installation grants. If you choose to add the organization's GitHub members to ChronoTab automatically, you also confirm that you are entitled to do so and that the Customer has a lawful basis for it.
- Administrators. The Customer decides who its administrators are, and any administrator may manage the organization, including deleting it (section 8). If an organization has no administrator who is still a member of its GitHub organization, an owner of that GitHub organization may take over as administrator. We rely on GitHub's records of who owns an organization, and we are not responsible for those records being wrong, or for what an administrator does.
- Creating an organization. We may refuse to create, and may suspend or delete, an organization that was created in breach of these Terms: for example on false authority, with a name or address that impersonates someone else or that you are not entitled to use, or through automated or repeated creation.
- You sign in through GitHub or Google. Keep those accounts, and any ChronoTab API keys, secure. You are responsible for activity under your account and your API keys. Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe either has been compromised.
2. The Service
- ChronoTab records time against GitHub issues and produces reports, timesheets, and exports from those records.
- ChronoTab is a record-keeping tool, not an invoicing, accounting, tax, payroll, or legal service. Reports and timesheets reflect the entries your organization records. Before you rely on them, for example to bill a client or pay a person, you are responsible for reviewing them for accuracy and completeness.
- We may add, change, or remove features. Features labeled beta, preview, or early access are provided for evaluation and may change or be withdrawn at any time.
- We may impose reasonable limits, such as rate limits or limits on the number of organizations created, to protect the Service and other customers.
3. Plans, fees and billing
Paid plans apply from 2 November 2026.
Plans. ChronoTab offers a Free plan and paid plans. Each plan sets limits on the number of tracked repositories, the number of seats (one for each active member; a disabled member does not use a seat), and how much history is visible. The current plans, limits and prices are on our pricing page and shown at checkout. A plan applies to one ChronoTab organization. The Customer may change its plan at any time from Settings.
Free plan. The Free plan is free of charge and has no time limit. It includes every feature, within its limits, and shows the organization's entries from the last 60 days; older entries are kept and become visible again on any paid plan. Timesheets produced on the Free plan carry ChronoTab branding.
Merchant of record. Paid plans are sold by our reseller and merchant of record, Paddle.com ("Paddle"). Paddle takes the payment, collects any applicable tax, issues the invoice or receipt, and handles payment-method changes and billing questions. When you buy a paid plan you also agree to Paddle's Checkout Buyer Terms, which Paddle shows at checkout. NFN Labs does not receive or store your card or bank details.
Renewal. A paid plan is a subscription. It renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly, as chosen at checkout) at the then-current price for that plan, until cancelled. Prices for an existing subscription do not change during a paid period; we will give at least 30 days' notice before a price change applies to a renewal.
Changes. Moving to a higher plan takes effect at once; the difference for the rest of the current period is charged as Paddle calculates it. Moving a monthly plan to yearly also takes effect at once, with the unused part of the current month deducted from the yearly price. A change that would leave you a credit, for example from a yearly plan to a higher plan billed monthly, is declined and nothing is changed. A yearly plan cannot be changed to monthly part-way through the period: cancel it, keep it to the end of the period, then choose monthly. Moving to a lower plan, or to Free, takes effect at the end of the current period; until then the current plan continues. A scheduled change can be undone from Settings before it takes effect.
Cancellation. The Customer may cancel a paid plan at any time from Settings. The plan stays active until the end of the paid period and then the organization moves to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted when a plan ends: entries, reports and timesheets stay, and the limits of the new plan apply as described under "Over the limit".
Refunds. Except where the law requires otherwise, fees are not refundable, and unused time on a cancelled or downgraded plan is not refunded or credited. Refunds are processed by Paddle under its Refund Policy; our Refund Policy at /refunds says how to ask for one where it is required. Deleting an organization ends its subscription, and unused time is not refunded. A charge for a duplicate subscription we created in error is refunded.
Over the limit. If an organization has more repositories or members than its plan allows, for example after a downgrade or when a plan ends, the Service does not delete anything. For 14 days the organization keeps working as before, and an administrator may choose which repositories stay active and which members keep their seat. After that, repositories beyond the limit are paused, and members beyond the seat limit are disabled, starting with those who were active least recently; administrators are kept first. A paused repository keeps its history, reports and timesheets, and no new time can be logged on it until there is room on the plan or the plan is upgraded. A disabled member is not deleted: their entries, reports and timesheets stay, but they cannot sign in or log time until a seat is free or the plan is upgraded, and the Service then restores them automatically, except anyone an administrator disabled themselves. Entries older than the plan's history window are hidden, not deleted, and return on a plan with a longer window.
Failed payment. If a renewal payment fails, Paddle retries the card for up to 30 days and tells the Customer. The paid plan continues during that time. If payment is not made by the end of the retry period, the subscription ends and the organization moves to the Free plan as described above. We may suspend an organization whose fees remain unpaid after that, under section 8.
Trials and credits. We may offer trials, discounts or complimentary plans. They end on the date we state, after which the plan then in force applies. We may withdraw an offer that was obtained in breach of these Terms.
Taxes. Prices shown exclude tax unless stated. Paddle adds and collects any tax that applies in the Customer's location.
4. Your data
- Ownership. As between you and us, the Customer owns the data it and its members put into the Service, including time entries, notes, client names, and timesheets ("Customer Data").
- Permission to process. You grant us a limited right to host, copy, process, transmit, and display Customer Data only as needed to provide, secure, and support the Service for you, and as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell Customer Data.
- Your responsibilities. The Customer is responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of Customer Data, and for having a lawful basis to process its members' personal data through the Service, including telling its members about it where the law requires.
- Exports. You can export your data through the Service's CSV and timesheet exports. Our backups exist for our own disaster recovery. They are not a substitute for keeping your own copies of records you need.
- GitHub data. ChronoTab reads only the GitHub data that the Customer's GitHub App installation grants, as described in the Privacy Policy. The Customer controls that access from its GitHub settings.
- Imports from other tools. If you import data from another service, such as Jira, Tempo, Harvest, Toggl or Clockify, you confirm that you are allowed to export that data and to give us access to it, and that any access token you provide belongs to an account authorized for that. We use the token only to read the data for your imports and delete it as described in the Privacy Policy. Imported data becomes Customer Data.
- Sign-up records. When you create an organization we keep a record of the sign-up: your GitHub username and verified email, the GitHub account and installation you connected, the organization details you chose, and the version of these Terms you accepted and when. We keep it to run and secure the Service, to prevent abuse, and as evidence of your acceptance. Ticking the box on the sign-up form is your electronic signature of these Terms.
5. Data processing
For personal data contained in Customer Data, the Customer is the controller (or, under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Data Fiduciary). NFN Labs acts as the Customer's processor (Data Processor). In that role we will:
- process that data only to provide the Service in line with the Customer's use and configuration of it, which together are the Customer's instructions, unless the law requires otherwise;
- ensure that people who process it on our behalf are bound by confidentiality;
- maintain appropriate technical and organizational security measures;
- use only the sub-processors listed in the Privacy Policy, and update that list before adding a new one;
- notify the Customer without undue delay after becoming aware of a personal data breach affecting its data;
- reasonably help the Customer respond to requests from individuals exercising their data protection rights;
- delete Customer Data when the Customer's organization is deleted, as described in the Privacy Policy.
If your organization needs a separately signed data processing agreement, contact [email protected].
6. Acceptable use
You must not, and must not help anyone else to:
- use the Service in violation of any law, or to infringe anyone's rights;
- access, or try to access, another organization's data, or any account, system, or data you are not authorized to access;
- probe, scan, or test the Service's vulnerabilities, or bypass its security or rate limits, except through responsible disclosure to [email protected];
- interfere with or disrupt the Service, or place an unreasonable load on it, including through automated account or organization creation;
- use the Service, including organization names, logos, or share links, to impersonate any person or organization, or to mislead, phish, or defraud anyone;
- upload malicious code, or content you do not have the right to use;
- resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties as a standalone service, or copy or reverse-engineer it except where the law expressly allows.
7. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party services, including GitHub, Google, and Cloudflare, and on any other tool you connect for an import. Your use of GitHub, Google and any tool you connect is governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or changes they make that affect the Service, such as changes to GitHub's APIs or permissions.
8. Suspension and termination
- By you. You may stop using the Service at any time. An organization's administrator can uninstall the GitHub App and can delete the organization from Settings; we can also schedule the deletion for an administrator on request. Deletion locks the organization immediately. Unless an administrator cancels it within 30 days, its data is then permanently deleted and the deletion cannot be undone, as described in the Privacy Policy. The Customer is responsible for exporting what it needs before then, and for the actions of its administrators. We act on a deletion started by a person who was an active administrator at the time, after the sign-in checks described in the Privacy Policy, and we are not liable for a deletion that such a person started.
- By us. We may suspend or restrict access to the
Service, for an account or a whole organization, if we reasonably believe
that:
- these Terms have been breached;
- there is a security risk to the Service or to others;
- continued access could expose us or others to legal liability or harm;
- or the law requires it.
- Non-payment. If a paid plan ends because of non-payment, the organization moves to the Free plan and its data is handled as described in section 3 ("Over the limit"), including that members beyond the Free plan's seats may be disabled; we do not delete an organization or a member for non-payment. Fees already due remain payable.
- Effect. After termination, Customer Data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy, including the export window before deletion. Sections 4, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 14 survive termination.
9. Our intellectual property and feedback
The Service, including its software, design, and the ChronoTab name and marks, belongs to NFN Labs and its licensors. These Terms do not give you any right to them except the right to use the Service as these Terms allow. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
10. Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, NFN Labs disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We also do not warrant that reports, totals, or exports will be free of errors, or suitable for any particular billing, payroll, tax, or compliance purpose.
11. Limitation of liability
- To the fullest extent the law allows, NFN Labs will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages. This includes any loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill, or data, and any cost of substitute services or billing disputes between you and your clients, however caused, even if we were told they were possible.
- To the fullest extent the law allows, NFN Labs' total liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed INR 10,000 in aggregate.
- Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud.
12. Indemnity
The Customer will defend and indemnify NFN Labs against third-party claims, and resulting losses, damages, and reasonable costs, that arise from:
- Customer Data;
- the Customer's or its members' use of the Service in breach of these Terms or the law;
- disputes between the Customer and its own clients, contractors, or members about time records, invoices, or payments.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will change the version and "Last updated" date above. For material changes, we will give at least 30 days' notice (for example in the app or by email) before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and you may request deletion of your organization.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Before starting formal proceedings, both sides agree to try in good faith to resolve any dispute by contacting the other. The courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India will have exclusive jurisdiction, except that either side may seek urgent injunctive relief in any competent court. If you are a consumer, this does not take away any protection given to you by the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
15. General
- These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any separately signed agreement with us, are the entire agreement between you and NFN Labs about the Service.
- If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
- You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- We may send you notices by email or through the Service. You may send notices to [email protected].
