Keyboard shortcuts

For members, managers and admins

This page lists every keyboard shortcut in the ChronoTab dashboard and in the browser extension on GitHub. It is for every role. In the dashboard, press ? at any time to open the Keyboard shortcuts sheet, which lists the shortcuts you can use right now; the ? button at the bottom of the sidebar opens the same sheet.

On a Mac, ChronoTab shows ⌘ and ⌥; on Windows and Linux it shows Ctrl and Alt. The tables below give both.

Keys What it does
Alt+T (⌥+T on a Mac) Open the Log time sheet, from any page. See Log time from the dashboard.
? Show the Keyboard shortcuts sheet.
Esc Close the topmost sheet, menu, popover or dialog. Each press closes one layer, so inside the Log time sheet an open list or calendar closes first, then the sheet.

Press G, then a letter, within about a second. While you hold the chord, the sidebar shows each page’s letter beside its name.

Keys Goes to
G then W My week
G then R Reports
G then T Timesheets
G then E Team
G then M Members
G then C Clients
G then S Settings
G then A Audit log
G then P Your profile

Only the pages your role can open have a shortcut. A member, for example, has G W and G P; see Roles and permissions.

Keys What it does
← and → Previous and next week.
[ and ] The same, while you are typing in a field.
Keys What it does
↑ ↓ ← → Move between cells in the Reports Hours by day grid and the Team Completeness by weekday grid.
Home and End Jump to the first or last cell in the row. With Ctrl (⌘ on a Mac), jump to the first or last cell in the whole grid.
Enter (↵) On Reports, open the side panel of entries for the selected day.
Ctrl+↵ (⌘↵ on a Mac) Save the entry in the Log time or Edit entry form.

On a GitHub issue page, when you are not typing in a text field:

Keys What it does
Alt+T (⌥+T on a Mac) Open or close the time-log drawer.
Alt+N (⌥+N on a Mac) Open the new-entry form directly.
Ctrl+↵ (⌘↵ on a Mac) Save the entry, in the drawer’s Log time or Edit entry form.
Esc Close the topmost thing first: the calendar, a delete confirmation, then the form (back to the entry list), then the drawer.

See Log time from GitHub for the drawer itself.
